Supporting MCM Runners

  • A Good crowd support can make or break a runners performance on race day. Consider Bringing your own small foldable white table with "thepeacetable.org" written on black marker to show your solidarity with the peace table and #savetigray. It could be a coffee table, a side table, or any small table. You can even use a white spray paint or any white paint to paint an old table white and bring it to show your solidarity with the peace table.

  • The peace Table is expected to Arrive at the Finish line by 11:30AM-12:30 pM

  • For Best View Arrive Early (by 9am) to Arlington cemetery metro (blue line) or Rosslyn Metro (blue, orange, silver) Station to cheer the table at mile 25-26

Use Metro (most roads closed)- No way to access the Marathon by car

Get or Download Your smart Trip card a day before . (long lines on Sunday)

If you are interested in a plan to maximize the places you can cheer for a runner during the MCM Marathon, Read below. If not, Just come to the Rosslyn or Arlington Cemetery Station and follow the crowd towards the race course.

Suggestions

  • Supportors can download MCM App to track your runners with the link above.

  • After you download the App

  • Click on " Inter@active"

  • Click on "Track a Runner"

  • Enter BiB # 6001

  • Have a Metro SmarTrip Card that's already loaded and ready to use.  You do NOT want to be waiting at a Metro kiosk on race day!

  • You have to arrive early to watch your runner cross the finish... it'll be crowded as heck!  Really.  Expect a big crowd. Best to watch them around Mile 26 as they make that final turn up the hill.

  • Arrange a meeting place ahead of time!

  • Runners love humorous signs.  Don't cheer just for your runner... cheer for everyone!

  • More cowbell!!!

Where to Go

  1. Get to the Rosslyn station (Orange, Silver and Blue lines) BEFORE THE RACE STARTS and exit to the street.  Turn right and then left onto Wilson Blvd.  Go a block and cross to the north-east corner of Lynn Street and Wilson Blvd.  It's important to be on that side of the street before the race because you won't be able to easily cross later.

  2. Cheer for the runners as they pass Mile 1.

  3. Walk north towards Key Bridge.  Pick a spot on Key Bridge to cheer for the runners as they pass Mile 4.5

  4. If your runner is in the 50K you can cross Key Bridge into Georgetown and see them as they return from the out-and-back on Canal Road.  They will pass by Key Bridge at their mile 9.5.

  5. CHOICE 1 -> (minimize walking) Head back to Rosslyn, and get on the Metro.

Take the Orange, Silver or Blue line (doesn't matter) in the direction of New Carrolton (for Orange) or Largo (for Blue and Silver).  Get off at the Smithsonian Station (7 stops).  Take the exit for the Mall (as opposed to the Independence Avenue exit).

  6. CHOICE 2 -> (for walkers or bikers) From Key Bridge you can walk down the Mount Vernon Trail (it starts on the Virginia side of Key Bridge).  Less than two miles south you go under Memorial Bridge and you can turn right and take the pathway across Memorial Bridge and cheer for the runners as they pass the Lincoln Memorial around mile 10.5.  Then you can walk East on Independence Avenue and cheer for the runners at miles 15, 17 and 20 (20, 22 and 25 approx for the 50K runners)  (see below).

  7. After you go up the Metro escalators, make a U-turn and head west down Jefferson Drive (towards the Washington Monument) until you get to 14th Street.  Turn left and walk one block to Independence Avenue.  Turn right on Independence Ave. and continue past 15th Street and bear left

where Independence Ave. splits.  You will come to the race course at Mile 15.  Cheer for the runners!

  8. Go back East on Independence Avenue to 15th Street and cheer for the runners at Mile 17.

  9. Continue back East on Independence Avenue to 14th Street and cheer for the runners at Mile 20.

  10. Head back to the Smithsonian Metro station via Jefferson Drive.

Take the Orange, Silver or Blue line one stop to L'Enfant Plaza (or just walk there, it's close) and switch to the Yellow Line towards Huntington.  Take it three stops to the Crystal City Station.  Walk east a half block to Crystal Drive and see runners at Mile 22.5 and 23 (it's near the turnaround of an out-and-back)..

  11. Jump back on the Metro and take the Blue line 3 stops to

the Arlington Cemetery station (towards Largo again).  Get out and walk east (in the direction of the Lincoln Memorial, away from the cemetery) and head down the exit ramp on the left (there's a walking path) towards Route 110.  There you can see your runner at Mile 26 and give them that final burst of encouragement they'll need to get to the Iwo Jima Memorial and the finish.

  12. You can walk parallel to the race course on North Marshal Drive (staying clear of the runners on the OTHER side of the barriers) up to North Meade Street where you'll turn right and head to Rosslyn to meet your runner and congratulate them!
